Jennilyn Mercado your not invited beeehh!! - Cheska Garcia

Cheska Garcia, who is a few months away from her wedding day, is brimming with excitement.

During the birthday party of Ruffa Gutierrez—held at the Blue Leaf Events Place in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, last June 21—she revealed to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that she can’t wait to marry cager Douglas Kramer.

She’s on cloud nine, discussing her wedding plans for October 9 this year.

But in the course of the conversation, Cheska brought up one topic that has been unsettling her family for four months now: The issues confronting Patrick Garcia.

“My brother is a good guy,” Cheska said. “We were brought up with breeding, with class. You know, it’s not even class…I mean, each person can have class that they claim to have, but you know what, we are not like that.”

She continued, “My brother decided to be a businessman, is that gonna break him? We don’t have to blame ourselves. Pero alam mo, take it as it is. Pero kami, hindi kami maintriga. My brother is quiet.”

The Us Girls host was obviously disconcerted about the situation of her younger bro.

Last June 15, the 26-year old actor left for the States to pursue his studies and get away from all the “intrigues” surrounding him here. And most of these intrigues have to do with his relationship with Jennylyn Mercado, the mother of his first baby,.

Cheska told PEP, “My brother is in the U.S. and then, you know what, I’m very proud of my brother, because no matter how many times he’s been trampled on, stepped on, he’s never spoken anything [bad] about anybody.”

A LOOKBACK. The hubbub has been going on for four months now, but what exactly caused it? Jen and Patrick used to be so in love. They even contemplated having a civil wedding. But right after the “pregnancy” news erupted, things began turning sour. Why?

In the April 2008 issue of YES! magazine, the co-star of Yasmien Kurdi and JC De Vera in Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Ka put the blame on the incessant media attention. While Patrick admitted that he and Jen would have small fights, he couldn’t understand why, instead of fixing things between them, his ex-girlfriend announced them on national TV.

He said, “If ever we’re going to fight, and she’s going to leak it out to people, especially if the story is not true—kumbaga, she’s just pushing me away.”

For her part, Jen said in the same interview with YES! magazine, “Wala kaming communication, hindi kami nagkikita, almost two months na. Ako pa nga nag-e-effort, e, na dapat siya ang gumagawa, di ba? Ako ‘yong gumagawa—calling him, going to his place, talking to him. But he doesn’t want to talk."

They parted ways last February 20. Patrick chose to keep mum, and eventually left Manila. But the negative publicity continued to hound him. Fans of Jennylyn accused him of being a “mama’s boy” and “unfit” to be the dad of the baby, and most recently, “irresponsible.”

Patrick’s mom and his sister, who had always come to his defense, were called “kunsintidor.”

On the other hand, the brouhaha took its toll on Jennylyn as well. Some showbiz fans called her “drama queen,” and worse, “publicity-greedy.”

AT PRESENT. Through this all, Cheska saw how her brother calmly took every attack that came his way.

She narrated, “My brother, he’s so steady. Kung ginawa nila sa cousin mo, sa kapatid mo…Dude, my brother is so steady. Gawin mo ‘yan sa ibang tao, okay lang? Gawin mo ‘yan sa kapatid mo, okay lang?

"Honestly, when she announced it [pregnancy], I was the first person to find out about it. I was the first one. I told Jen, ‘Jen, don’t hesitate to call up my mom.’ My mom will know what to do. You know why? Coz my mom is not ‘yong baliw na mom para magpa-panic. My mom is steady, eh.”

Apparently, Cheska is tired of the ruckus and just wants it to stop.

She said, “Everything is so superficial in this world. But you know what, we don’t care about that. Take us [as] we are. She wants to say things about my brother, say things about my brother. But you know, when I talk to you, I am this way. My brother is the way he is. I’m no different from my brother. I’m easy to talk to. She wants to say something about my brother, go ahead. Pero mabait [ang] kapatid ko. Hindi ‘yan ganyan. Hindi kami pinalaking ganyan.

“Magulang namin pinalaki kaming may breeding kami period. We don’t have to prove it, we don’t have to stress the point. If you meet us with breeding, then we are with breeding. We don’t have to try on who we are. No! That’s not the way it is. We don’t have to say that I’m this way and I’m that way. I don’t have to try so hard. Patrick didn’t try so hard.”

And she may not have enunciated it, but she wants the mom of her first pamangkin to stop as well.

Cheska said, “She knows she was with my brother for one year and six months. She knows how our own family is. We’re not matapobre. We are never the matapobre. If we are, from the beginning of their relationship, we should have gone against it...

“We came from a good school, but we don’t look down on people. It is not the way it is. A lot of politicians and lot of businessmen who are successful right now don’t come from a good family. But they are who they are because they make the way that they are. They know what their work is. I don’t have to say bad things about Jen.”

Is she going to invite Jennylyn to her wedding?

“No,” she replied in a snap. “Would you invite a person who stepped on your brother a million times? No! No! Why should I?”

PEP saw Cheska’s different moods that night: excited and happy as a bride, upfront and upset about the issues, and most of all, protective as an ate.

Her parting shot, “We were born into keeping everything intact….We don’t have to prove to them, ‘Hey we’re like this, we’re like that.’ Wala kaming pakialam dun, we don’t care!”

At press time, PEP is trying to get Jennylyn’s reaction.

Urduja

URDUJA, the Tagalog Animated Movie, may be the first “phenomenal” Filipino Animation that we have ever seen…but it is far from being an “all-original Filipino” formula.

The movie is highly anticipated by a lot of Filipinos. We haven’t produced yet a single animated movie that we can be proud of and so we expect Urduja to elevate the Philippine’s movie industry, to at least a few inches higher than where it is right now…that is - galaxies away from the kind of animations that American and Japanese students can make.

I have only seen the trailer on T.V. and I should say the film can pass off as a…well…a ”good enough” Tagalog animated movie.

First off, the figures look as if they’re rip-offs and aggregates of various, notable characters from Pocahontas, Mulan, Jungle Book and Stitch to name a few.

Although the movie was created by Filipino animators, I am not so sure if they can create stuff that is, in a sense, purely Pinoy. It appears that the makers of Urduja were not ready yet to relinquish their fixation with Walt Disney characters. Philippine literature is very rich in history, legends, folklores, fables, epics, tales, myths, and characters which can be found ”only in the Philippines“. Surprisingly enough, you only managed to produce the lowest kind of art: “imitation”. Tsk…tsk..

I do hope that the storyline could compensate for the lousy animation….and somehow…allow the animators to redeem themselves.

Viewers can’t help but compare Pinoy Idol with American Idol on it’s 1st Performance Night

NOTE: This post is Addopted from: Thunder-boltz.tk

Last night the boys showed why they belong to the Top 24. It was a good-to-average presentation, while televiewers can’t help but compare the production of Pinoy Idol to that of American Idol. And why not? It’s a franchise. And ABC5’s Philippine Idol almost met the standards of American Idol production when it held its ground last year. How much more if it’s with GMA now?

Read more for my rants, raves and reviews of last night’s show.

TECHNICALS. The set is ok for now (semifinals). But the stage appears too small for the performers, especially when we are expecting movements to pair off with their song numbers. I remember last year’s Philippine Idol, they even did a feature on how their stage was engineered - and the stage was really good, unexpectedly. So now that GMA handles the Idol franchise, viewers expect more, fresher and greater ideas. So show them all out. The spotlight is almost unnoticeable as the stage projects dim lighting (or is it just my GMA Pinoy TV reception?), and the audio is poor. Kudos to Ignacio for not putting butterflies on the entire show/set.

THE HOST. Raymond Gutierrez, ever since the world begun, lacks the passion to deliver and connect to the audience. His spiels are, well, he lack spiels, spontaenity. He’s not consistent of asking each and every contestant before turning them over to the judges. Or sometimes, he’s redundant of his adlibs. Boring. Also, can somebody tell him now to add more masculinity in his overall image? This is not Showbiz Central boy!

THE JUDGES. Where in the world is Wyngard’s fiesty and fierceful out-of-this-world comments last night? All of the judges seems to be sweeter and more careful in belting out comments this time - that some of those have gone over-hyped. How can they say superb, excellent and fantastic when viewers have only witnessed good to not-bad performances. Please tell me readers that you agree? It’s good though that Wyngard seems to divert away from his “becoming palengkero” image. Ogie continues to give smart comments and tips, while Jolina adds more about the look and stage presentation of the contestants. The 3 are consistent in saying their concerns for those rockers that they may be able to adapt to other genres as the competition goes along.

And why didn’t they all speak up on each and every contestant? It’s unfair for the viewers, even though majority are not really considering what they’ll say before they vote their favorites.

CONTESTANTS. The performances started good, but a little boring, to say. Especially on its scheduled airing. Thanks to the rockers who brought some energy. We now don’t see too much old-school song choices, but Alamid’s Your Love (Rye), Sana ay Ikaw Na Nga (Elliot) and Ulitin (Warren). Rye and Warren have given a new lifewave though to their song choices. Other than rock, RnB is most showcased.

One thing I can’t help but notice is how the boys make-up. Woohoo! Is it Pinoy Idol or a gay pageant? Also the Top 12 girls wears too much of those fake powders.

ARRANGEMENTS. The musical director Danny Tan, must come-up with fresher ideas on how to arrange the song choices of the contestants. Don’t make it sound like we’re still on the Pinoy Pop Superstar. Don’t we have other musical directors available out there?

MY TOP 5 AND MY COMMENTS:
(1) Toffer Rei - good rock quality voice, just needs to work out his falsetto
(2) Warren Antig - astig performer. i was surprised about the way he uses the stage. he knows it. just work out on your birits. and how about RnB man?
(3) Walton Zerrudo - great vocals, but you need to belt out your range in this show.
(4) Rye Estrada - he gave the pop-rock classic, Your Love, a life. he needs to build charisma.
(5) JJ Jr. - though he forgot some lyrics, i think he can work that out, and continue to show his pop-rnb mastery.

MY WORST: Elliot Andal - for not giving a new wave for a Basil Valdez classic; and Sherwin Marquez - for simply unable to connect very well with his song.

RAYMOND, Raymond, why can’t you disclose to the televiewers how many will be eliminated on Sunday? And is it reallu a must to say that one can cast his vot up to 200 times? I know it’s how the show goes, but I’m just concern with the contestants who have less kins that can afford that much pesos in texts. Wouldn’t it be unfair also for the boys that last night’s show was too late for some flocks that might vote for them?

O well, Ion Man out…

Congratulation Ejay Falcon!

Ejay Falcon the “Promdie Hottie” from Mindoro takes home the title of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus Big Winner. How long that title, isn’t it? Now take this, the title of the show was:

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus The Big Night at the Big Dome

Seriously, who’s creative mind suggested that title?

Back on the topic:

Ejay Falcon garnered a total of 620,934 votes or 36.31% of all votes. He’ll bring home 1 million pesos, a house & lot, a water refilling franchise plus other big prizes.

On the other hand, these were the runner-ups:

2nd Big Placer: Robi Domingo. He garnered a total of 588,116 votes or 34.39% of all votes.

3rd Big Placer: Nicole Uysiuseng. She garnered a total of 314,582 votes or 18.39% of all votes.

4th Big Placer: Beauty Gonzales. She garnered a total of 186,523 votes or 10.91% of all votes.

I actually thought Robi Domingo would win by a landslide. Guess I should have known better. But I’ll make a prediction here:

In a year span, he’ll be forgotten and be out of television just like any other PBB winners except for Kim Chiu. At least, he has now those big prizes. Enjoy your 15-minute fame, Ejay!

The Most Beautiful Woman on Earth is Aishwarya Rai

Her name is Aishwarya Rai
Called as the Most Beautiful Woman in the World
(Khenethics Agree)

Who is the most beautiful woman in the world? Half a century ago, Hollywood would have presented her to us. Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman or perhaps Elizabeth Taylor.

But today? Correspondent Bob Simon reports the woman who currently holds the title, at least according to thousands of Web sites, Internet polls and even Julia Roberts, is someone you've probably never heard of.

Her name is Aishwarya Rai, and she is an actress living and working in Bombay, India. The reigning queen of Indian cinema, and also a classically trained dancer, Rai has starred in 24 films over the last seven years.

That may seem like a lot of movies, but Bollywood, India’s film capital, is famous for churning out more movies a year than Hollywood. Three new films are produced and distributed worldwide every day, attracting a global audience of 5 billion people. That’s twice the reach of Hollywood.

The reason Bollywood films have such universal appeal is because they’re squeaky-clean. There are no sex scenes, not even kissing. Every time you think someone’s going to do it, they'll burst into song instead.

"I'd assume that's really a reflection of our society," Rai says, when asked to explain the films' modesty. "Of course people kiss and of course people have a very healthy love life. This is the land of the Kama Sutra. But nevertheless, in our society you don't really see people around the street corner kissing or being extremely, overtly, physically demonstrative publicly. They do it privately but not publicly."

Unlike some of her Hollywood counterparts, Rai's very much like the women she portrays: wholesome, dutiful and deeply religious. So much so, she insisted we visit her favorite temple for this interview. It’s more than 200 years old and every week more than 100,000 people come from all over India to make offerings and pray to Lord Ganesh, the half-elephant/half-man Hindu god of happiness.

At the temple, Rai started attracting more worshippers than Lord Ganesh.

She says being treated as sort of a goddess in this way, "makes me feel guilty. I'll be very honest. When there's a distraction at the place of worship I kinda get a bit guilty. And I kind of say, 'Lord, forgive me. This isn't intended.'"

Despite the attention, Rai says she doesn’t think much about the way she looks.

"I am really OK with the way I look, It's fine," she says. "All this is transient. I mean, it's really, you know, it changes with time, and that's the external."

Lord Ganesh, the half-elephant/half-man Hindu god of happiness.

This isn't intended.'" Despite the attention, Rai says she doesn’t think much about the way she looks. "I am really OK with the way I look, It's fine," she says.
"All this is transient.
I mean, it's really, you know, it changes with time, and that's the external."

Rai never dreamt of being an actress. She grew up in a strict middle-class home, the daughter of a merchant marine and a writer. She was an "A" student on track to becoming an architect, until the “Miss World” pageant came along. She entered because, she says, she wanted to change the way the world sees India.

Rai explains that, "for me, it went beyond being a beauty queen. For me, it was about being the 20-year-old girl from India on international platform and a lot of people actually would assume that I wasn't even educated in India because of the way I'd speak. And they'd be like, 'Have you studied in India? Do you actually speak English out there?' and, I was like, 'This is so interesting that so many people know so little about my country.' and this is exactly what I wanted to do when I set out on this little mission in my head."

At age 21, Rai became Miss World. It didn’t take long after that for her to become the brightest star in Bollywood. Now 30, she’s still a traditional Indian girl - which, by the way, means she still lives with her parents.

"By virtue of my job, I’m traveling," she explains. "You get to spend very little time with your family. We hardly get to meet each other except on the one odd day we really get to spend time, have dinner together. And that's rare, and we cherish it."

Still, Rai considers herself an independent woman, and she doesn’t have anything to prove. She’s an astute businesswoman who negotiates her own contracts, including endorsements for L’Oreal, Coca-Cola and DeBeers diamonds.

She is not only one of the wealthiest women in India, but Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people on the planet. When she’s seen in new clothes, it invariably sparks a new fashion trend. Choosing what to wear, she says, is not so much about caring as it is, "just about being open to life and trying different things out."

Right now for Rai, trying different things means going to Hollywood. She’s already got several films lined up. Her first is from the director of "Bend it Like Beckham." It's called "Bride and Prejudice," and it’s a very proper film. But eventually, in Hollywood, India’s “good girl” is bound to run up against something of a cultural hurdle: kissing men on the big screen.

"We'll cross the bridge when we reach it," Rai says. "But yeah. We - let's see. We'll work on the story, work on the scene. I'll work on the part and, and let's see."

Would an onscreen kiss create a scandal for Rai back in India? "It would definitely be a topic of discussion," she says. "They're gonna enjoy it."

Sure, there are people in India who resent sharing their star with America. But, Rai notes, "then again there are so many Indians who have expressed so much of pride. They look at this as such a positive possibility. Because there really hasn't been that strong a representation of the Indian in Hollywood."

With Rai in the vanguard of an Indian invasion, that could change. Is Hollywood ready?

"Someone said to me this week that you are a Greek goddess with the soul of an Indian. What is the finest complement you have ever received? The one that touched you the most," Simon asks Rai.

"Well, when people call me real. I love it. And it has a lot of meaning," says Rai. "It means a lot to me and it's touching. People would see that and acknowledge it."

And one last question -- one that every man watching is going to want to know. Does she have a steady boyfriend?
